Race Night Entertainment

FUNDRAISING

Race Nights are fantastic ways to raise money for a charity, your club or organisation or any other good cause. Typical beneficiaries would include

  • schools,
  • sports and social clubs,
  • charities.

4 Fun Entertainment will help you raise money and we are happy to discuss with you, prior to your event, the ways in which money can be raised and at the same time ensure that people have fun.

There are different ways in which the event can be run and depending on the number of people attending your event we can help you decide what will work best for you.

OPPORTUNITIES TO RAISE MONEY

Monies can be raised through a variety of methods these include

  • your guests having a flutter on each raise by placing a stake on the runner that they would like to win
  • selling horses and jockeys
  • selling forecast cards / tickets
  • obtaining local sponsorship
  • auctioning runners (often the last race)
  • running a raffle
  • playing some of our games

THE VENUE AND PUBLICITY

You will need a room which is large enough to allow an informal layout where everyone has a good view of the projector screen, whilst ensuring that people can move about freely, to place their bets and collect their winnings at the Tote / Payout desks.

You will need to find ways to attract your audience which can be through newsletters, notice boards etc., ensuring that you promote it as a social event rather than a fundraising event. As long as you get people through the doors you can be fairly sure of raising money on the night.

Tell your guests that it will be a really good nights entertainment and by using us that will be guaranteed. Client after client tell us that they have had a brilliant night.

SETTING UP THE TOTE

We will ensure that the tote is set up for easy access so that your guests can come up to place bets. We will supply everything that we need although if a table is available we would use it provided it was big enough.

Before the evening starts it will be necessary for you to decide what percentage of the money bet on each race your organisation will keep. Usually this would be 50%. The remaining money is divided equally among those who have placed a bet on the winning runner.

Bets are usually taken at £1 per ticket (50p is possible although you may not raise as much money !) and “punters” may buy as many tickets on as many horses as they wish. You will need to supply a cash float in the region of £50 (say £20 in £1 coins, £20 in £5s and £10 in £10s).

EQUIPMENT

We supply a compere, the video projector, big screen, race DVDs with full commentary, race tickets, race cards, dual and triple forecast sheets and advice on running the event. We may ask that that you supply staff to help run the Tote and Payout Desk especially at large events. This may be as many as two people for the Tote and one person for the Payout Desk. This depends on the numbers of people attending the event. We use a computerised system for the tote which makes all the pay outs easy and allows the event to flow smoothly.

THE RACE CARD

We provide a variety of “Race Cards” which will contain details of 8 races, each race having 8 named runners. The names have no significance and are designed to be for fun only. If you wish to supply names for runners to us, we can incorporate them in to a Race Card.
In the commentary the runners in the race are identified by number only, so it does not matter which video is chosen or what names are on the Race Card.

Sponsorship – approach 8 local business’ and get them to sponsor a race each at say £10 each. The sponsor will then have the race named after their company. Their name can be included on the Race Card e.g. “The Jimmy Smith Ltd Trophy ” and our compere will also ensure their support for the Race Night is acknowledged during the event. The sponsors name will appear on the screen during the betting.

Sell the Runners – the buyer becomes the owner of a runner and this can be shown on the Race Card. If their runner wins the race they are awarded a prize (such as a bottle of wine or some chocolates). The cost of the prize will be met from the sale of the competitors. You can chose how much to sell the runners for – by charging £2 per runner , if you sell all the competitors in all the races you will have raised £128.

Jockeys - Your guest can become jockeys for a fee and the winning jockey will win a prize. Selling all jockeys at £2 would again raise £128.

Dual, Reverse Dual and Triple Forecast - these are ways of making even more money with the triple forecast having the potential to take £336. Guests are asked to choose either first and second (Dual Forecast) first and second in any order (Reverse Dual) or first, second and third (Triple Forecast).

Other - During the event there are many ways of raising funds and we are very happy to chat with you to produce the event that you desire.
